  • Excellent down under adventure

Art by Ingela Johansson Only 4 more nights at home and after that we are on a plane to start our road trip. On this road trip we won’t have to look out for moose instead it is kangaroos. I might take Julia on a Swedish adventure later on. The more that I have read about travelling in the outbacks the more I realize that it can be an adventure. However, my travelling companion has reassured me that we will not ne travelling as far as they describe in this blog. http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/travel/destinations/2010/03/the-top-five-greatest-aussie-roadtrips/ The second thing that I am learning is that there are so many expressions that I don’t have a clue what they mean, so it will be an interesting language experience as well. Like what is a damper? Right now I am more wondering how to fit my paintings in the car, how to handle my exhibition nervosity and what the Aussies will think… View original post 72 more words

  • I Think Now You’re Just Like Everybody Else

ART FOR NOTHING My eyes don’t see the love in your eyes. My heart doesn’t receive the love from them. I’ve already exhausted my soul, take, exhaust it a little more. Because I think you’re just like everybody else now. Though last night I was waiting for you to come, today I’m running away from you secretly. See, I’d looked into my heart well enough, then I understood that you’re just like everybody else. I completely forgot you, I’m sure about that. Now my promise has gone to the past. I don’t even have grudge for you in my heart. I think you’re just like everybody else now. Nâzım Hikmet Ran View original post

  • A passion for crayon and charcoal

Thank you all for a great Open Studio in Leisure Farm. Art by Ingela Johansson This piece is my first and only #canvas in #crayon, #acrylic, #ink and #charcoal. It will soon move to Norway to her new owner. It’s Sunday and I am sketching for inspiration to fill her place on my wall when she leaves. I know that the person who bought the painting loves it, and to me that is a great reward and part of the best thing with being an artist. When a client falls in love with a painting, that is always what  you hope for and aspire to. View original post

  • 12 days to Art road trip to Queensland, Australia

Art by Ingela Johansson Today it is 12 days before I will fly to the Gold Coast with Julia Namour from Connector Jewles, to set up an art exhibition in the outback. To see the outbacks has been a dream since childhood when I was eagerly following the Mc Leods Daughters, to show my new art there is even better. The last months have been filled with painting to get ready for the trip. Examples of the process are seen above. On this blog we will post updates on the preparing, meeting artists in Australia, art exhibitions, art workshops and of course the whole adventure of an art road trip in Australia. I will be posting maps and the mayor stops with dates soon so that you can follow. We will also be doing #sketchdrops along the road. I will explain more about these later on. So hold on for a trip filled with our art and… View original post 12 more words

  • Todays class in water colour

Today we had a creative class with watercolor. Trying a lot of different techniques like Himalayan salt, drybrush, recycled brown paper, wet in wet and so on. The classroom was filled with creativity and laughter, leaning on its best terms.  Next Monday we will continue to explore and add a few more elements. From the ongoing teachers exhibition. Radhi Raja interpreted this painting like that she is on her way into the world, willing to meet the challenges. That is just how I felt while painting. On my way to work I walked past one of my favorite sculptures in Singapore. Join us at Studio Miu next week. • The Gatsby feeling an art class in Singapore

This Wednesdays art class had a feeling of “Gold fever”. Great art was created in 10 minutes using ink, coffee and gold glitter. The quick paintings are a warm up, but sometimes they become master pieces on their own. The time limit makes the artist focus on the essential as their is no time for detail. If you have not tried, just set your mobile and give it a go. I love the camel art produced by Ewa. The theme for next weeks art class will be Black and White art. #artclassinSingapore #Camelart #AdultartclassinSingapore #Gatsby #sketchingfaces #ArtLessons #ArtworkshopinSingapore #sketchingwithcoffee #artinSingapore #Coffeeart #Artclass #Quickportrait #artwithcoffee #Singaporeart #Ink

  • What can you learn in an art class

“The course gave me the inspiration and motivation I needed to begin to paint again. I learnt what technique I preferred, and I learnt to challenge myself.” Anne Marit Haslund, Singapore “Ingela is so passionate about art in general and teaching it seems to be a joy to her. That shines through in her art classes.” Susanne Wallin, Singapore These are two comments from students that has tried the art classes. I think that it is very personal why you attend an art class. It can be that you want to learn a new technique, that you are a beginner, you want to develop or you want to meet like minded people. I hope and I try to make my art classes to be a place for people that enjoy art, get inspired by discussing art from all over the world that likes to try new things and are curious about art in general. Susanne is right when she describes me as passionate by art in general, I have always been interested but it has grown into a passion. I enjoy meeting students from all over the world and discuss colors, forms, ideas, focus points, textures and what capture their attention. The picture below is from one of my very first art classes. Maybe it is time for an art party soon to celebrate?! Ingela Ps. • The Art Club Singapore

To enter the orange front door of The Art Club is to enter a warm world of art in many forms, styles and shapes. All curated to come together by Daniel Ord and Marcus Von Kloeden. Their gallery/consultancy has pieces of made by friends all around them and they also have the big famous fine art masters. It is probably the perfect place to go when you are curious about art  and you want to know more in a friendly environment curated with warmth and knowledge. Yesterday we listened to a talk from the talented Iskander Walen who is the creator behind “Lovebomb”. I loved the bombs when I saw them, but the talk made them more interesting. Iskander if you read this I would like to add that in Sweden the bomb part would certainly derive more attention than the nipple. I once had a painting that should a third of the profile of a breast that I couldn’t show on a particular gallery in Singapore. I had another one showing almost all of the backside of a woman, and that one was fine. This is a subject that I would like to dive into. If you live in Singapore take a tour to Geyland and visit The Art Club. It is an experience for the senses, and if you are far away enjoy a picture of “The Lovebomb” I have also included my piece “The fallen kimono” that I couldn’t show. #DanielORd #IskanderWalen #Bomb #Nipple #collage #Iskander #ArtinSingapore #sculptur #Art #Artevent #Nippleinart #Thelovebomb #Kimono #Theartclub #MarcusVonKloeten #Geylang #Artduringdesignweek

  • The world of art has always been global

The world of art and culture has always been global. Artists have throughout history been inspired by each other and other cultures. This Thursday I will have a workshop about Asian and Nordic art fusion. Of course it will not in no way be a complete picture, more indications of how individual artists and for some art movements were inspired by each other from these regions. I will also touch on contemporary interesting art collaboration between China and Nordic countries. From the ice hotel to paper cut artists. We will also have a creative part in the workshop painting and reflecting.
