  • The perks of the art fairs

Coffee and the new art magazine Harpers Bazaar Art from Singapore was certainly a great perk after Art Stage. I am a great fan of the Swedish Ruth Ansel how used to work with Andy Warhol and other artists at her time as editor in chief of Harpers Bazaar. The new cover had been made by Singapores own Andre Tan. I enjoyed the layout and the articles. It reminds me of extremely good chocolate. I am looking forward to the next edition already. #AndreTan #HarpersBazaar #Art #SwedishRuthAnsel #HarpersBazarArt #RuthAnsel #Singapore #AndyWarhol #HarpersBazaarArt #Chocolate #ArtStage

  • Sketching textures

Today we had a drawing workshop at Studio Miu. It is amazing what you can achieve with one pencil, one paper and one eraser. It feels like you could pick up the ribbon on the drawing by Sandra. The Studio was filled with talent today, and the level of concentration was so high that you could almost feel the tension in the air, and slowly it was released and great drawings started to appear. All students achieved to create soft, hard e.t.c. It is a good drawing exercise to play around with everyday objects. Next week it will be a workshop on how to draw faces. After the workshop I found myself and a few of the students at Art Friends in Takashimaya, they are having a move out sale! It is a good time to grab some art supplies. #ArtclassinSingapore #StudioMiu #artworkshop #Drawingworkshop #pencil #artinSingapore #ArtFriend #Singapore #Artclass #Textureindrawing

  • The journey of the self portrait

I have painted since I was a child but I have never done a self portrait. For the first time taking a course at Sothebys in contemporary art I was challenged to do just that and write about the experience. I started out with two things that I love coffee and my favorite music. It became a quite pale painting in sepia. However in many ways the composition reflects me quite well. I don’t enjoy having my picture taken and I don’t enjoy being in the center when it is about my art. In particular I do not like my profile as it shows that my under lip is off. Growing up I often thought that my  face lacked character, as I am growing older I can see that it is also gaining just that. I love earth tones and staying grounded. However the sepia tones became too flat for me, so I introduced ink before it had dried. The Chinese ink to me represents my love for calligraphy, stories and line. I had a terrible nightmare earlier which to me is somehow reviled in the background and the turmoil. This was not an easy task but it was interesting, as far as likeness goes I think that you could figure out that it is me in the picture. It was an interesting experience, and I think that it would look completely different if I did it in another mindset. The self portrait was done in A3 size of a heavy weight aquarelle paper to the tones of Rufus Wainright and Sting with a fever. I suggest to everyone to try it is interesting. #Art #paintingexercise #selfportrait

  • Pop artists round the globe 2016

Inspiration! This is a list of some of the most exciting pop artists round the globe today 2016. thesketchclub “I paint because painting is a private Utiopia.” ERRO I am in love with Instagram this morning, as I found a talented Pop Artist in Teheran. Because, although I still adore Warhol and other great artists during the Pop Art era it’s also inspiring to see what artists do today. ERRO is not new to me he has his own museum in Iceland, and I have had the pleasure to meet him and discuss painting an inspiration from his art on my clothes in 1990. He has since than been an artist that I admire. If you haven’t seen his work do it today. ERRO I strongly think that what I am passionate about when it comes to Pop Art is the importance of the concept and message, and that it relates to every day and everyone. • Ink with acrylic a versatile medium

I like ink because of all its tones, how it is good for free sketching and that you can mix it with other mediums such as acrylic, coffee and pastel. If you want to be more free when you are my suggestion is to sketch with a brush instead of a pen. Try it just for fun.  To improve mistakes and practice has to be made over and over, it is like everything else. Use material that you are not afraid to vaste, and decide before you start that this is only practice. #Sketching #Artlesson #ArtworkshopinSingapore #Chineseink #Art #Artclass #brush #acrylic #SwedishArtanddesign #Ink
