- The one word assignment in acrylics
One word as a topic for an acrylic painting an 10,5 and 2 minutes as the time to achieve it. Focus should be on the colours and emotions connected to the word I was amazed how my students handled this. Below are a few examples. It makes me once again believe in the proverb that creativity works well with limitations. Paste was used to create texture in the acrylic. #acrylics #artclassesinSingapore #artinSingapore #feelings

- The stick lady and other drawing tips…
When you start drawing people in motion you have a good help with going back to what you once started with, drawing stick people. Make circles for the joints. Draw a center line for the spine and the mayor movement in the body. Remember that it is usually 8 heads to a body, and 4 heads to the waist. If you are drawing fashion it is 10 -11 heads to the body to create the illusion of legs that linger on and on. Another important part is to know your anatomy. Try picturing people without clothes while sketching. It could make the exercise interesting in new ways, and to picture people without clothes is also the trick for when you are scared of talking to people in public. However, it would be advisable not to try these two at once, if you are not a street artist. The reason for the second exercise is that it is hard to sketch if you don’t know what it looks like underneath the clothes. These tips are from today’s workshop at Studio Miu. #ArtclassinSingapore #IngelaJohansson #StudioMiu #Drawingpeople #DrawingworkshopSingapore #Drawingtips #SwedishArtanddesign
- Sketching in Hong Kong
A few sketches from a short trip to Hong Kong. I wish that I would have had a bit more time to get to know this place. Your sketchbook becomes like a travel diary. To me Hong Kong was a place that I loved to watch from the old trams, and next time I want to see more of the fishing villages and the sea. It is a place that I would love to explore further. #frommysketchbook #city #quicksketches #tram #HongKongurbansketching #HongKong #drawingacity #HongKongdrawing
- Why do I paint monks?
Art talk 18th of September at The Art Club in Singapore, welcome Art by Ingela Johansson I started painting #monks 2013 and the first one was the monk walking outside #Prada on #Orchard Road, #Singapore. At 7 pm tonight I will have another art talk at the exhibition The Monk and Prada. Yesterday I had a great time also listening to the perspective of the viewer. That is what my art is all about, if it evokes a feeling or questions I am happy. I like that for each time I bring up the topic of the monk in our rapidly changing global society it does evoke different sides and points of views. I will keep on working on my monk theme as long as it does evoke new inputs and questions. One answer is that the monks walks outside #Prada to deal with his own temptation, as one of my friends put it how much of a daily temptation do you face in the monastery? - 24 meters of paintings and still counting…
Art by Ingela Johansson A few of the paintings that will fly to Australia to be packed into a car and go on a road trip. Julia I am glad that we can take the top off because I have more than these. Yesterday I took out all the paintings that I have been working on for the last year. I started to select and chose for different exhibitions and maybe most importantly to see what key pieces that I was missing. To work with an exhibition is a lot like working on a fashion collection. You want the pieces to work well together and in combination with each other, but you also need those contrasting pieces that will stand out. Contrast and balance, the sites, the audience, the places and the themes are all different, so it will take a lot of thinking. I have gone through quite a few and made a… View original post 32 more words

- Food workshop
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw1PBK6KrR8 I love to paint and I am also passionate about great coffee, chocolate and red wine. In the last workshop at Studio Miu we combined these passions and painted only with food products. It was a great experience, especially singing and eating the dark chocolate in the end. Food painting becomes even better when listening to the right music such as Coffee & JD by Krisna Patra. #IngelaJOhansson #Coffee #Swedishartanddesign #Artworkshop #ArtinSingapore #StudioMiu #Food #foodart #foodpainting #coffeepainting #artwithchocolate #Chocolate #redwine #artwithwine #foodartworkshop
- Urban sketching Chinatown
Today was perfect weather for sketching in Chinatown, which was lucky because it can get to hot. I was pleased that we gradually moved towards the horses. Sketching is all about letting go on thinking to much, just to let the pens run freely. We found great refreshments at the Coffee stand opposite the big Buddhist temple. Adding a striking colour to some parts of your sketch can be a great idea. The black is from a waterproof pen that you can use even with watercolour and acrylics. What Sara has tried above is not an easy assignment but the sketch is brilliant. We You get a lot of inspiration hanging around Chinatown even in the restrooms. The next outdoor sketching tour will be at Serangoon Road. I do believe that sketching is the most important training to become a better artist, it is like practice and warm up when you do your exercises. It is also something that you can do in your in between times, like waiting for a bus or a meeting. Chinatown looks wonderful with all the decorations for the new year, don’t miss it. Thank you for a great day. #Horses #Sketching #Chinatown #Luck #artinSingapore #Art #Pen #UrbansketchingSingapore #drawing
